Three weeks tomorrow! :)

Brett and Emma are so big. They are almost three week olds!  Brett weighs 6 lbs 12 oz and Emma weighs 7 lbs 6 oz (as of last Tuesday). They are over their birth weights which means we can let them sleep as long as they want without having to worry if they need to wake up for a feeding. Seems like it would be a big relief, right? Well they don't sleep very long...so we weren't too worried about that, anyways.

We took them to the doctor last week for their two week check-up and everything was perfect! We go back for their one month appointment next week and I am going to try and talk to the pediatrician about Brett's gassiness. It is pretty bad. Last week the doctor said it was normal, but I don't think she realizes how bad it can get. I should take a video! A benefit of having two infants is that I can sort of compare them. Emma doesn't get gassy like Brett. So to me, it isn't really that normal. I supplement their feedings with formula (Similac Advanced) so maybe it is bothering him. I did see a Similac for gassiness but it said it was for babies who cannot tolerate lactose. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions and start diagnosing a food allergy so I am sticking with the Advanced for now and we will see what the pediatrician says next week. I am also trying to increase my own milk supply so I don't have to supplement as much. My goal is to breastfeed for 6 months. After only 3 weeks it is getting tiring but I am going to push through!!!

3 weeks post c-section I am recovering well! I feel good and am moving around without any problems. I do everything like I normally would, but take Motrin a couple of times a day if I start to feel a little pain. After 3 more weeks I should be recovered and will have all the restrictions lifted. I also plan to start back at the gym! It sure has been a while. I miss spinning and zumba!

FOR FUN:

How far along? 2 weeks, 6 days postpartum
Total weight gain/loss: Lost 40 lbs, 21 more to go!
Maternity clothes? In between. Some stuff is just so comfortable I am not ready to give it up!
Stretch marks? They have faded so much! YAY! Maybe they will just disappear :)
Sleep: Last night was pretty good! I am getting to be a pro at using two Boppies to feed both babies at the same time then burp them, swaddle them, and lay them down. The Boppies are comfy and help them fall asleep without me needing to hold them and once they are out, it is much easier to put them down in their bassinet.
Best moment this week: Shopping with the babies!!
Movement: N/A
Food cravings: No cravings, but I still have a pretty hearty appetite!
Gender: One boy and one girl!
Labor Signs: N/A
Belly Button in or out? It is back in :)
What I miss: Sleep, being able to run an errand without planning.
What I am looking forward to: When Brett and Emma sleep through the night.
Weekly Wisdom: It really does get easier every day!
Milestones: Last night Brett and Emma slept from 3-6AM without making a peep! Then again from 6-9, and they are sleeping again right now...

I didn't get a chance to update how our Valentine's Day went, but here are some pictures!
Our delicious dinner from The Palm!

Brett and Emma gave us the best presents, they slept while we ate! Usually they happen to wake up just as we are sitting down for dinner!!

Emma's first Valentine's Day, sleeping in the PackNPlay.

Brett's first Valentine's Day, sleeping in his bassinet.

Here are a few more pictures we have taken over the last few days. I am still looking for my camera cord so these are from my iPhone...
A day at the beach! (playmat)

Brett being a big boy and trying to hold his own bottle!

Rocco snuck into Emma's Boppy!

What Brett looks like when he gets gas :( And daddy sleeping on the job!!
Happy Monday, everyone!! Brian just called me and he is getting off work early today! I am so excited, he should be home before lunch :) What a special treat!

The final countdown!! :)

This is my last pre-baby post! Please excuse any formatting problems, I am experimenting with Blogger on my iPhone. Brian and I checked into labor and delivery around 11 tonight and are very excited. I should be getting some sleep but I am hooked up to an IV and all kinds of monitors so it is a little tough. Our labor room is so big and nice! It is a private suite with a bed for me, a pullout couch, a TV, shower, some chairs and drawers. When I am in active labor we will be moved to an operating room in case there is a need for a c-section. Brian and I weren't planning on having anyone else in the room during the actual delivery process, but that decision was already made for us when they said only one person could accompany me in the OR. Of course that would be Brian! So it looks like we were making the right decision all along.

I was told that I couldn't have any food or water after midnight so Brian and I stopped for dinner at Olive Garden on the way to the hospital. I was looking forward to the soup and salad all day, and it was delicious!

It is about 1:30AM and I'm going to be checked in a few hours to see how things are progressing :) hopefully things are moving quick!!!
Pre-delivery poll!!
How far along? 37 weeks, 6 days
Total weight gain/loss: 59 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yes. But I'm currently wearing a hospital gown :)
Stretch marks? I guess I have been pretty lucky that my stretch marks have contained themselves to just the basic areas. Although I heard they can get worse after delivery, I hope that is not the case for me.
Sleep: Not much! Between my back, the babies moving, and having to go to the bathroom all night -- I have been sleeping in 2-3 hour stretches at the most.
Best moment this week: Spending time together with Brian and just enjoying each other.
Movement: They are still moving so much, but they are really cramped for space in there
Food cravings: Chocolate was really the only craving I had, and it wasn't until the end.
Gender: One boy and one girl!
Labor Signs: I didn't think so, but after being on the hospital monitor for less than an hour, the nurse said I had 3 contractions. I didn't even realize I was having them.
Belly Button in or out? Out and it pokes through my clothes.
What I miss: Sleep!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting the babies TOMORROW!!!
Weekly Wisdom: try to relax :)
Milestones: Checking in to labor and delivery.

Thank you so much for all the love!! People have been calling, texting, e-mailing, and facebooking to let us know they are thinking of us and praying for us. We are truly blessed to have so many great friends and such a supportive family. Thank you for thinking of us! :)

My next post will have baby pictures, can you believe it??!?

ALMOST 37 weeks! :)

37-ish Week Poll

How far along? 36 weeks, 4 days
Total weight gain/loss: 58 lbs
Matern
ity clothes? Of course :) But I haven't bought any in a while! I am starting to grow out of the ones I have but hopefully I won't need them for much longer!
Stretch marks? Whatever. I guess I should just accept it. I was using some lotions that do really help with the itching/burning, but the stretch marks still came! I am sure they will lighten up after labor. If not, there is always Celtrixa!
Sleep: My sleep has been getting worse and worse! I wake up to go to the bathroom 4-5 times a night most nights. My back hurts so I am rolling all around and that wakes me up, too. It takes a nap or two to get me through the day.
Best moment this week: Clothes shopping with Brian. He was picking out the cutest newborn outfits! We got A LOT of clothes at our baby showers, but we ended up with barely any newborn outfits. So we picked some up yesterday.
Movement: I can still feel the babies move a lot. I don't feel a lot of kicks, but I feel the babies rolling around and making a lot of big moves. They have stayed head down for a few months, but they are still always twisted in different positions when we go in for ultrasounds.
Food cravings: Still just chocolate.
Gender: One boy and one girl!
Labor Signs: I wish! I am having some cramping and pain when I move around a lot. So I have just been resting most of the day.
Belly Button in or out? Out and it pokes through my clothes.
What I miss: Sleeping all night long!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting the babies
Weekly Wisdom: Don't drink water before bed.
Milestones: Checking some things off the to do list.

We have an appointment tomorrow morning and the babies will be measured, YAY! I cannot wait to find out how much they weigh. Last month Emma was estimated at 4lbs, 9 oz. and Brett was estimated at 3 lbs, 13 oz. So tomorrow we will see just how big these watermelons are!!!

35 weeks!!

Hello!! The end is near :) Just a few more weeks to go! YAY! It is so hard to believe.

I found this picture online and thought it was hilarious! And it sums up how I feel, haha!

So I am officially past the 35 week mark! My doctor said I would deliver between 35-38 weeks. So anytime now, babies! I know they are enjoying their current home but I think it is getting to be time to move on out :)

Here is some info on how the babies are progressing:

The countdown continues… and in fetal developments: most of the bones (soft skull aside) in their little body are now completely hardened, providing a solid structure from which they can now make their grand debut into the world. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are structurally ready for a secure launch. In physical fitness news: their muscle tone has also improved over these past few weeks, and you’ll definitely be impressed by their steel-like Ulnar grasp (a newborn reflex that occurs if you lay your finger in their palm). And in genital development: if you’re having a girl, her labia are now fully developed. Finally, in the fluids/excretion department: the amniotic fluid-to-baby ratio has fallen over these past weeks, although they’re still swallowing fluid (building up even more meconium for that historic first poop), and some vernix caseosa. They will be more than ready to swallow and digest milk after birth. Just in case you didn’t get it quite yet: you’ve got yourself an adorable and hungry 6.5 lbs 20 inch baby—are you ready?

Best moment this week: KNowing that the babies will be here very soon!
Movement: Yes! Emma is moving like crazy this morning and it is actually pretty painful. A lot of rolling and tumbling going on and I worry she may be turning or flipping.

Gender: One boy and one girl!
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? Out and it pokes through my clothes.

Hello, hello!!

Hi! I know it has been a little while since I have updated, oops! The last few weeks have been very BUSY! Brian and I have such great friends and family!!! We were thrown three baby showers! We are so lucky to have so many people who care about us :) We got a lot of really nice presents, and one I picked out myself. Brian's mom wanted to buy me a diaper bag so we went shopping together a few times. I finally narrowed it down to the perfect one! I don't have and really good pictures from the baby shower but here is the website picture...
I am so in love with it!! Thanks, Susan and Bert!! :)

So we have been busy putting away gifts, organizing the nursery, putting furniture together, writing thank you notes...and a lot more!

I finished up work on December 17th. It is hard to believe I will not be working again until August! I am looking forward to getting ready for the babies...and then spending lots and lots of time with them.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and they measured the babies, again! I love hearing how much they weigh! Baby A (Brett) is estimated to be 3 lbs 13 oz and Baby B (Emma) is estimated to be 4 lbs 9 oz! She is "hungrier" the nurse said! Both babies are moving around a lot, have strong heartbeats, and have been practicing their breathing. Some days I wish they would just come out already, but hearing their weights reminds me they still need time to keep growing and aren't ready for our world just yet. In 4 more weeks the babies will have their measurements again. We can't wait!

I have been feeling pretty good the last few weeks. Just tired but no problems. I have been a little uncomfortable. Mostly because I am so big it is hard to get up and down. My feet swell out of control, and my hands too! I cannot wear my wedding ring but I did get a fake one from Claire's. My ring is a 4 1/2 and this one is a 6!
Isn't it cute! :) And look at my nice manicure. It is called Shellac and is a two week manicure that does not chip! A lot of salons are starting to offer this service and it is well worth it! It is much less harsh then acrylic nails but just as sturdy! Check it out :)

That is all the news for now..I promise to update more frequently now that things aren't so busy. Just a few more weeks and the babies will be here. HOORAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

28 weeks!!!!

At the beginning of November, Brian and I went to Naples for the weekend. We had a really nice time. We stayed at the Naples Grande Resort, and it was very nice. I would seriously recommend it to anyone visiting Naples. Brian planned the whole thing all by himself! Very impressive :)

We are still working on the nursery! Brian put together both cribs and a changing table. The painting is done. Now I am busy searching the internet for Dr. Seuss decor! I found these adorable outlet covers and shelves online.

I know this isn't the best picture, but they are very very cute! The outlet covers are from Etsy seller Starrs Creations. The shelves are from eBay seller mine-n-yours_2008.

I am also waiting on some wall decals that I found on Etsy. I cannot wait to get them on the walls!!

The babies have been moving around so much! They practically never stop. Between the two of them there is always something going on :) It is so weird to see body parts rolling across my belly! I don't really feel "kicks" anymore. It is more like rolling or strong, heavy moves. Every time we go to the doctor the babies are in a different position. I know they are getting cramped for space in there, but they are still finding ways to get comfortable :) At my last appointment, both babies were breech. That means their feet were down. They have plenty of time to switch positions, but if they are breech when it is time for me to deliver, I will need to have a c-section. I really do not want to do that, but obviously it will be whatever is best for the babies!

It might seem a little early to be thinking about delivering, but it is really so close! I only have about 9 more weeks, at the most. Anytime in January would be OK for the babies to be born. The later the better, but definitely before January 27th they will be here!!

I went in for a one hour glucose screening this week and passed! The nurse told me with twins and being on prednisone I would likely fail the one hour and need to do the three hour test. Luckily that was not the case! YAY!

I am off of work for the next week and will be sleeping a lot! Also shopping for the nursery, making appointments to meet pediatricians, and getting ready for my baby shower on Saturday. I am SO EXCITED! Susan brought some stuff for the shower over this week and put it in the outside room and told me not to look. I am being so good, I promise I haven't peeked! But it is killing me. I would have never thought to go in there anyways, now I am so curious.

How far along? 28 weeks, 3 days
Total weight gain/loss: 45 pounds
Maternity clothes? Jumped sizes in maternity clothes from small to medium!
Stretch marks? ugghhhhhhh

Best moment this week: Watching the babies move!
Movement: Yes
Food cravings: Not really...just enjoying eating whatever I want!

Labor Signs: Nope. Possible Braxton Hicks but the babies move so much I can't really tell.
Belly Button in or out? Making its way out!
What I miss: A lot of things!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting the babies
