Gender scan today! :)

Brian and I are so excited that we got to see the babies today!!! And find out the genders :) We are thrilled...but keeping it a secret for a few more days. (Sorry!)

On Sunday we are having a little get together with our parents/grandparents and some close friends to cut cake and share the good news. Everyone is coming with their guesses and we will all get to see who guessed right and who was wrong.

I got a lot of cute ideas for gender reveal parties online and am so happy to be putting ours together on Saturday.

Here is some interesting news that we can share right now..these babies are growing into sweet potatoes this week!

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

I also switched OB offices today. I was sent to a high-risk Dr. for this specific ultrasound but he was very concerned with my present condition (the wheelchair) and how it is being handled by my other Drs. After he spoke with my Rheumatologist and OB offices, it was decided that the rest of my pre-natal care would be taken care of at the high-risk office. I was a little put-off, but happy that my new Dr is taking my RA so seriously and being more aggressive about gaining control of it.

So I had my steroid dosage doubled (again!) and should feel better within 48 hours. Well, I have heard that before. So I am not getting too high of hopes but I would love to be walking up my stairs in two short days. The couch makes a nice bed but I miss picking out my own clothes from my closet, although Brian has pretty good taste!

Thanks for reading :) Cannot wait to post about the babies as soon as we reveal it to our families!!!

I'm a bump on a log. (Well, couch!)

It has been a long two weeks since I last posted! I went back to work August 16th. I really enjoyed seeing everyone again. A lot of people from work did not know I was pregnant when we left in June, so it was fun to tell everyone. School started August 24th and I have a very active class this year! A good mix of kids on very different levels, so they will be keeping me on my toes.

Unfortunately on the first day of school I was having some pain in my hip. It got worse as the day went on and by 3PM I could barely walk. I went home and laid on the couch, waiting for Brian to come home. He was scared to see me in such bad shape and was really worried about me all night as I got worse and worse. Around 10PM we decided to head to the Emergency Room. That was a waste of time and money!

The ER doctor ordered me an ultrasound (yay!) and we got to see the babies! They were so big! We could see their bones so clearly, like an x-ray! The babies were fine so we were very happy to hear that. Other than that, the ER trip was useless. Even though I knew it was my Rheumatoid Arthritis acting up, the Dr insisted I be checked for all kinds of other unnecessary things. I was getting to be in more and more pain and did not feel comfortable taking any pain medications without my OB approving it first. So, after 3 hours we left. I was still in a lot of pain, but there was a little peace of mind knowing our babies were OK.

The next day I saw my Rheumatologist. She felt my hip and knee and knew right away that they were inflamed. She put me on a safe steroid and said I should be better by Friday. Woo-Hoo! Well, Friday has come and gone and I am still laying on my couch. I cannot walk and my left leg is pretty useless. Brian has been AMAZING in helping me move around the house but I have pretty much been stuck to the couch. My big comfy bed is upstairs and the only way I am getting there is by an airlift! So for now, the couch has been my home.

I am also lucky to have such great family and friends during this time! My mom and Brian's mom have come to visit, brought me food, and helped around the house. Other friends have been stopping by, it is really nice. I am sure Brian enjoys a little break :)

So for now I will just be piled up on the couch...waiting for my hip to get better so I can be a mobile being again. It is no fun! I hope to be back soon with better news.

Maternity Clothes!

The last few days have been a torture to get dressed! Shorts I bought two weeks ago won't button. Tank tops are stretching at the top and bottom, and my summer dresses have lost their flow. I decided to pull on the loosest shorts I had, slap on a bella band and a - what used to be -huge blouse and head to the mall. It was a scary thought: flourescent lights, trying on different sizes only to be disappointed when they didn't fit, and the dreaded thought of work clothes that I would need in ONE MONTH!

Surprisingly, It actually turned out to be really fun!! First I went to JC Penny and got a pair of pants, shorts, and 2 capris. Everything was on sale for $15-$20 each so I got such a great deal! Next I went to Motherhood Maternity to get some cute tops to go with everything. Well, I ended up leaving with half the store! (That reminds me, I really need to go out and buy some more hangers!)

My absolute favorite thing that I bought was a pair of leggings!

These things are so comfortable! I only got them in gray but I want to go back and get every color. I am not as big (yet) as the girl in the picture, but believe me they are amazing and I would wear these post-baby! They barely have a hem line and are so soft!

I also got some dresses, shirts, and really cute jeans! I was pleasantly surprised to find nice pregnancy jeans, and I absolutely love these:

I like them because the pockets aren't as plain as most pregnancy jeans. They are actually really nice and fit pretty well. It was really the best feeling to "slip" into a pair of jeans. I decided a few weeks ago I would probably never wear jeans again. Then these came along! They are a size small and the belly is supposed to stretch with me so I can wear them for my entire pregnancy. The sales lady said maybe not with twins, but I am keeping my fingers crossed!

While I was in Motherhood I also got to check out the Heidi Klum line. Not cute. Her clothes are WAY too big and I didn't like them. I could never fit a small, even at 9 months pregnant! Everything of hers was shoved onto a clearance rack. I was really looking forward to checking it out. Too bad. I am sure it will be finding its way to Marshalls soon (if it isn't there already!)

So, after two hours at the mall, I am a lot less stressed when trying to figure out what to wear! Everything fits, or is close to fitting soon, and is very comfortable! I would say it was a great shopping trip.

10 week poll!

How far along? 10 weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: Gained 5 lbs
Maternity clothes? Still wearing the bella band every day! I also got some stretchy shorts/pants to wear.
Stretch marks? None
Sleep: All the time!
Best moment this week: Putting on a pair of jeans that fit!
Movement: None
Food cravings: Just carbs to ease the nausea!
Gender: No clue
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: Going to the beach :) It is too hot to be outside and I am not putting on a bathing suit!
What I am looking forward to: Dr. Appointment and ultrasound next week!
Weekly Wisdom: Don't do today what you can put off until tomorrow :)
Milestones: Morning sickness is getting better!!

Excited to share the good news!

Hello and welcome to our baby blog!! With a whole Summer off and lots of time spent in bed, I hope I can keep up with this and keep everyone informed with the progress of our cooking babies!!

Brian and I are so excited to be expecting twins! We were shocked and excited when we went in for a standard ultrasound at 7 weeks and saw two little babies in my belly! Both babies are measuring at 7 weeks with a heartbeat of 144 for Baby A and 133 for Baby B. According to some sources that try to predict genders...we are having one boy and one girl! Unfortunately we won't really know the sex of the babies for a couple more months.

I will start out my first entry with a poll I borrowed from a great blog!

How far along? 8 weeks, 5 days
Total weight gain/loss: Gained a pound or two
Maternity clothes? Nope, but I sometimes wear a Bella Band to help with the bloat!
Stretch marks? None
Sleep: Lots of it!!!
Best moment this week: Brian kissing my belly good morning and talking to the babies!
Movement: None
Food cravings: Not craving anything yet, but meat makes me sick!
Gender: No clue
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: Doing stuff with my day! All I do is sleep and stay in PJs!
What I am looking forward to: Dr appointment this week!
Weekly Wisdom: Do not eat Taco Bell!
Milestones: We got to see the heartbeats at 7 weeks.
